Diwali is one of those festival for which we wait eagerly to come. We celebrate this festival with a lot of joy and excitement. Decorating and cleaning your house before diwali has always been an important part. But it should always be done in a right manner. So that positivity remains and you will be benefited by immense prosperity and wealth. These Vastu tips will help you to purify your place so that you can create a positive environment for you and your family this diwali.
Cleaning your home is a very important thing to do. Remove all the spider webs and clutter to make a room for the positive energies to come. It is also very important to clean your surroundings such as balconies, porch, staircase, basement etc.
Throw away the unwanted stuff
If you are surrounded with the things which you don’t need anymore and they are just covering your space, then throw them right away. Things like broken crockery, unused magazines and newspapers, shoes boxes and empty cartons and all other waste thing which you are not using from long time block the positive energy from coming inside. So it’s better to throw them away.
This is the place where happiness and prosperity enters in your home. So it should always be neat and clean. Keep the entrance clutter free and clean. Entrance of your home should be bright and well decorated.
Decorate home with mango leaves and marigold flowers
Mango leaves and marigold flowers are considered auspicious and bring good luck in the lives of family members. Hang Toran or door hanging made from marigold flowers and mango leaves at the main entrance door to attract blessings of God.
You might have seen the footprints in front of some houses. They are drawn because of their high importance. Draw small footprints made from mix of rice flour and vermilion in the direction of going in the house not coming out symbolizes the goddess’ entry into your home. You can also draw beautiful Rangoli designs and traditional motifs at the entrance of the door to make it more beautiful and welcoming.
Use diyas instead of electric lights.
Try not to use electric lights and replace them with diyas (earthen pots) and candles in your Diwali décor. You can use pure ghee for lighting up the diyas and if not pure ghee then go for linseed and mustard oils. This is because they have beneficial health affects and kill harmful germs and insects. Always place diyas in multiples of four on the parapet and the boundary walls as each one of them represents Goddess Lakshmi, Lord Ganesh, Lord Kuber and Lord Indra.
Lighten up the dark corners
While placing the diyas never forget to lighten every dark corner. Places such as bathroom, kitchen, staircase and other dark corners of your home should be lightened to attract positive energies.
Never make Swastika or Om on the floor
Make auspicious Symbols like Swastik & Om on the North/East walls to bring prosperity and good luck. Do not make swastika or Om symbols in the Rangoli on the floor.
Lakshmi puja on Diwali should be conducted in the northern side of the house as this side is associated with wealth. Place the statues of Goddess Lakshmi and Lord Ganesha, Lord Indra and Kuber in such a way that the worshiper faces the North east or north or east while praying. Keep lord ganesha statue on the left side of Goddess Lakshmi and Kuber and Lord Indra statue should be placed either in front of them or on the left side. Keep the place clean and clutter free and use new cloths to clean the photos or idols.
Wear bright cloths on diwali. Avoid wearing black while doing puja. Also never leave your home after doing puja as it is not a good sign to leave your home after inviting God and Goddess. Opportunities knock the door only once.
