The Indian Republic Day, celebrated on the 26th of January year on year since 1950 is one of the two important national festivals for Indians, the other being the Independence day celebrated on the 15th of August since 1947 when India won its freedom from the British rule. It was on 26 January in the year 1950 that India proclaimed to the world its sovereignty as the as the largest democratic nation of the people, by the people for the people. On this day, the Constitution of India drafted with a lot of efforts by eminent leaders of India from different backgrounds took effect.
