The references to these can be traced back to Rig Veda. The details regarding the same can also be found in classics like Yagur Veda, Narad Puran etc.
Since ages, with an inherent desire to know about future mankind is using help of various Occult sciences. In Astrology also, here have been various systems to decipher cosmic and karmic blueprint of destiny- The Horoscope. Many Sages like Rishi Prashar, Jamini, Kalidas etc have propounded various systems of Astrology.
The two prominent systems of Vedic Astrology widely used during these days are Prashari and Jamini.
Prashari or grah(planet) specific system of Astrology , as we all know is primarily based on movement of Moon and Nakshatra’s. The course of Nakshatra bhedan, detailed system of calculations i.e Vedic Mathematics along with gochar forms the basic pillars of any prediction.
Different from this- Jamini Astrology is primarily Rasi(sign) specific. Further it is quite different from Prashari in terms of planetary aspects, dashas, karaks etc.
The knowledge that we have on Jaimini Astrology today is largely based on an ancient text known as Jaimini Sutras, which is divided into four chapters or Adhyayas, Containing about 1000 sutras in all. Jamini Astrology is one of the most interesting and exhaustive system used for the purpose of predictive astrology. One can get stunning predictions if able to decipher the chart properly.
To demarcate the two systems it is necessary to know basic difference between the two. Primarily the areas in which these system differ are-
