The violent, fierce and repulsive form of Ma Durga named Kalratri emerged when she peeled off her golden skin to attack the demons. Kalratri appears dark and terrible. She is the vanquisher of all evils, ghosts and all negative forces and fears. However, she is very benign in blessing and protecting her devotees. She always blesses her devotees with the highest happiness and fulfillment. Therefore she is also called as Shubankari or the one who bestows auspiciousness.
