The nine days of Navratri represents the nine manifestations of Maa Durga. Navratri comes from a Sanskrit word, Nava means Nine and ratri mean night. During this festival of nine nights, nine forms of Shakti (also known as Navdurga) are worshipped throughout the country.

This year in 2017, Navratri begins on 28th March and ends on 5th April. During these 9 days, offering special prayers to Ma Durga is considered to be highly auspicious.
